IIPM MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE

Come April and Madhya Pradesh will get a 'fresh' taste of Mukesh Ambani's retail foray. In November last year, Ambani kick started his retail venture from Hyderabad and now plans to roll out 75 outlets of Reliance Fresh in Madhya Pradesh. In the first phase, cities of Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior and Jabalpur will witness the opening of the outlets. Part of Ambani's Rs.250 billion retail plans, the agro-retail stores will stock fruits and vegetables, sourcing them directly from the farmers, along with giving them useful tips for increasing their produce.

IIPM :- Younger generation is not finding Nokia attractive

IIPM PUBLICATION

Pride comes before a downfall may be a cliché flogged to death by writers starved of words. Yet, the marketplace is littered with once formidable and invincible brands that forget the basic rule of survival: Don’t take the customer for granted and don’t become complacent. Dalda, Colgate, BPL, Gwalior Suiting, HMT and Bata are just few brands that were once invincible and are now dead or vulnerable.

In the pantheon of brands that dominate the Indian marketplace, Nokia undoubtedly looks totally invincible with a market share that rivals would die for. But hang on! Go to a Nokia service centre and

you suddenly find hordes of angry consumers with a series of complaints against Nokia’s hi-end multimedia handsets (including the much hyped N-series and E-series) that seem to hang, freeze, gas or simply switch-off just when your boss or girl/boy friend makes that call! “I (and my whole group) have got rid of my Nokia phone because at any given moment it just used to hang on me and go kaput,” complains Prashant Garg, a young executive at a leading MNC. His friend Akhil agrees. “For me, Nokia has lost the Mr. Dependable tag. You just cannot trust a Nokia phone anymore!” And the word is spreading. According to the IDC India Mobile Handset Usage Satisfaction Study 2006, Nokia is no more the most preferred brand. Instead, it trails far behind Sony Ericsson, the brand which stands tall grabbing the No. 1 spot in the handset user’s overall satisfaction.

IIPM PUBLICATION :- Google goes mobile...

IIPM MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE

...now in an agreement with Bharti!

In an all-round strategic move, Google has joined hands with Bharti Airtel. The latest agreement between the companies ensures that the Google search engine would be available on the mobile sets of Airtel users. Google would also be adding advertisements through its Mobile Ads product on Airtel’s Live mobile portal. This model would be the first of its kind for both the businesses and the consumers of India. Google is the world’s most used search engine and Airtel has one of the largest base of mobile subscribers in India . Manoj Kohli, President of Bharti Airtel commented on the partnership saying that: “By offering Google services to our customers, Airtel will strengthen its commitment to innovation.”

With Bharti and Google coming together, the advertisers would be benefitting the most, as they would be able to reach larger number of users with their products and services on a cost-per-click basis. The deal seems to be a logical step when mobiles are fast outpacing the growth of the PCs.

IIPM Press Release :- An engrossing extrapolation to Kautilya’s enduring treatise…

IIPM PUBLICATION
In a contemporary business milieu where maverick thought leaders across the globe wax eloquent on the finer nuances of good governance and corporate strategy aimed towards muscling organisations ahead of the glorified threat of cutthroat competition, emerges an endeavour that delves into the soul of an epic authored by an individual considered by many India’s original kingmaker and strategist, Chanakya (also known as Kautilya). While Sun Tzu, world-renowned battle strategist from China, was penning down his beliefs in The Art of War – widely perceived as the world’s oldest military dissertation – Chanakya, not far away, was absorbed in assimilating his insights in a volume termed the Arthashastra, which for centuries went on to personify his prudence in dealing with complexities that had existed in polity, governance and politics at the time of the Maurya reign in India.

Hailed for the pivotal component he proved in crafting the foundations of one of India’s greatest empires, and his proximity with Chandragupta Maurya – the very first sovereign of the dynasty – Kautilya essayed a stellar role in guiding his king and skilfully mentoring him in establishing the might of the Maurya Empire. So much so that the very mention of the name Kautilya, for centuries, has been synonymous with someone who is a shrewd philosopher and visionary.

The Left consolidation and fall of the Empire in Latin America

IIPM MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE
In less than a month, the left forces in Latin America have had two reasons to celebrate. First, the victory of Rafael Corea in the Ecuadorian Presidential elections, followed by Hugo Chavéz getting re-elected with a thumping margin. The twin events have further consolidated the primacy of Left in Latin American politics. Ever since his virtual re-birth after the failed CIA sponsored coup in September 2002, Chavéz has been in the vanguard of a 'red revolution' sweeping the continent. He has been the most vocal critique of what is commonly known in the communist parlance as 'American Imperialism'.

It is true that Fidel Castro is still the only surviving Communist President in the region, but Chavéz's advocacy of Socialism has earned him friends not only in Latin America but also in far-flung regions like Iran and Middle East. On the eve of his victory in Presidential elections, Chavéz proudly described it as a victory of 'humanity' and 'love'. "It is the beginning of a new era," he declared from the balcony of his presidential palace, as large crowd of supporters cheered him.
